On Monday, April 14, 2025, "Maryland in Tokyo, World Quantum Day 2025" was held at Tokyo Midtown Hall & Conference. The event was attended by government officials, including Maryland Governor Wes Moore, and from the Japanese side, government officials including Q-STAR's Representative Director Shimada.

The event was attended by government officials, including Maryland Governor Wes Moore, and from the Japanese side, government officials including Q-STAR's Representative Director Shimada. Representatives from both countries deepened their exchanges through discussions on industrial creation in quantum technology and global collaboration.

Under the leadership of Governor Wes Moore, the State of Maryland aims to become the "Capital of Quantum" for the world. It is home to startups such as IonQ, an ion-trap quantum computer company, and NanoQT (quantum interconnect), a startup originating from Waseda University in Japan.

For Japanese industry, this also presented a valuable opportunity as part of creating a global ecosystem centered on quantum technology.
