"Quantum Startup Support Program" in collaboration with Q-STAR / Plug and Play Japan
Call for participating companies now open

The General Incorporated Association for the Creation of New Industries through Quantum Technology (Representative Director: Taro Shimada, hereinafter "Q-STAR") and Plug and Play Japan Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and CEO: Vincent Philipp, hereinafter "Plug and Play Japan") will jointly launch a new accelerator program aimed at fostering startups related to quantum technology in Japan. This program will support startups in areas such as business strategy, fundraising, talent acquisition, and intellectual property management, all essential for the social implementation of quantum technology.

About the Quantum Startup Support Program

Currently, quantum technologies, including quantum computers, quantum communication, and quantum sensors, are attracting attention as solutions to problems that were difficult to solve with conventional computing power, such as drug discovery, new material development, finance, and logistics. As a result, many startups are emerging both domestically and internationally.

Against this backdrop, Q-STAR and Plug and Play aim to strengthen the quantum ecosystem by providing business expansion support to quantum startups both in Japan and abroad, covering aspects such as fundraising, business development, and partner collaboration. We will accelerate the growth of quantum-related startups by facilitating connections with venture capitalists and business matching with major corporations, which are essential for startup growth.

Q-STAR is an organization with 114 member companies, primarily major Japanese corporations. In addition, it collaborates with academic members, including universities and national research institutions, to promote the social implementation of quantum technology through industry-academia-government collaboration. In this accelerator program, we will leverage Q-STAR's industrial network and Plug and Play's expertise in supporting deep tech startups, as well as its network of major corporations and investors both in Japan and abroad, to create an environment that supports the leap of quantum startups from both technological and business perspectives.

This program is an endeavor to cultivate the deep tech quantum startup ecosystem in Japan. We welcome all who see potential in quantum technology as a key player in solving future societal challenges. This program is operated with the support of Sumitomo Corporation's QX Team (*1).
