On the Holding of "The Stage of Quantum Future: Social Implementation and Business Opportunities"

— Launching Joint Research "Strategic Initiatives for Building a Business Ecosystem with Quantum Computing Solutions" —

The General Incorporated Association for Quantum Technology and Industry Creation (Representative Director: Taro Shimada, hereinafter referred to as "Q-STAR") and the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) Global Research Center for Quantum and AI Fusion Technology Business Development (Center Director: Nobumitsu Murayama, hereinafter referred to as "G-QuAT") today held a joint symposium titled "The Stage of Quantum Future: Social Implementation and Business Opportunities."

Furthermore, prior to this symposium, Q-STAR and G-QuAT decided to launch a new joint research project titled "Strategic Initiatives for Building a Business Ecosystem with Quantum Computing Solutions," aimed at the early realization of a sustainable ecosystem through the creation and expansion of an early service market utilizing quantum computers. This joint research aims to promote the reinvestment of profits into development through the creation and commercialization of solutions from a business perspective, with users taking the lead. The joint research will be advanced by leveraging Q-STAR's expertise and know-how in quantum technology development by user and vendor companies for future social implementation, G-QuAT's diverse research areas and network with domestic and international research institutions, as well as the GPU supercomputer (ABCI-Q) and various quantum computers currently under development.

This symposium aims to encourage participants to discover the practical value of quantum technology and take the next step towards the quantum era, while also providing a venue for meeting industry-leading figures, thereby creating a foothold for business creation and business transformation.

On the day of the event, key stakeholders from industry, government, and academia, both domestic and international, including Yoshimasa Hayashi, Chairman of the Parliamentary League for the Promotion of Quantum Technology, government agencies, domestic academia, private companies, embassies of like-minded countries, and overseas industry organizations, gathered to share information on the latest industry trends, introduce initiatives for the creation and development of the quantum industry, and engage in a global exchange of opinions on the challenges.

In addition, concrete discussions were held on topics such as the global expansion of software platforms, activity updates of the global alliance (ICQIA) *note, initiatives for building global supply chains, the creation of attractive use cases utilizing quantum technology, the development of ecosystems to promote the industrialization of quantum technology, startup support for long-term investment and talent acquisition, and the development of industrial human resources for the practical application of quantum technology, all aimed at accelerating social implementation and creating business opportunities.

Note: The International Council of Quantum Industry Associations (ICQIA) is an international council composed of Q-STAR, the Quantum Economic Development Consortium (QED-C, US-based), Quantum Industry Canada (QIC, Canada-based), and the European Quantum Industry Consortium (QuIC, Europe-based).
