Q-STAR and NQCP Sign MoU to Strengthen Japan-Denmark Collaboration in Quantum Industry
Today, the General Incorporated Association for the Creation of New Industries through Quantum Technology (hereinafter, Q-STAR) and the Novo Nordisk Foundation Quantum Computing Programme (hereinafter, NQCP), a quantum computing research and development institution based at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen, Denmark, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening industry-led inter-organizational collaboration between Japan and Denmark in quantum technology.
This MoU marks a significant milestone in establishing a cooperative framework for the international development and societal implementation of quantum technology.

Quantum technology holds the potential to bring about revolutionary changes in a wide range of fields, including healthcare, mobility, finance, environment, and energy. However, challenges such as education, standardization, intellectual property, and funding also exist, making government regulation and financial support indispensable.
This MoU aims to promote exchanges among stakeholders such as SMEs, large corporations, investors, governments, and research and technology institutions in the countries and regions represented by both organizations. It also seeks to facilitate the exchange of information regarding the goals and approaches for the commercialization of quantum technology, while providing a common language to enable research through their respective frameworks.
Both organizations will focus their efforts on the following areas:
・Information sharing through conferences, exhibitions, webinars, etc.
・Implementation of joint projects
・Establishing an open cooperative framework with a view to commercializing research results
・Creation and dissemination of joint statements and recommendation documents
・Promotion and dissemination of both organizations' frameworks (Pathfinder Framework and QRAMI)
Q-STAR and NQCP will also collaborate with government agencies to contribute to the development of the quantum industry in both countries.
About Q-STAR
Q-STAR is an organization established on September 1, 2021, with the aim of advancing quantum technology and its societal implementation. It aims to create new industries utilizing quantum technology through collaboration that transcends industrial and corporate boundaries, with 137 organizations currently participating. Moving forward, Q-STAR will continue to actively collaborate with quantum-related organizations both domestically and internationally to promote the global dissemination of quantum technology.
About NQCP
NQCP is a quantum computing research and development institution based at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen, Denmark. It aims to build general-purpose quantum computers and promotes research into quantum algorithms and their applications. Through the development of quantum technology aimed at solving challenges in the life sciences, it contributes to the advancement of quantum physics.
